"notes": "The Ministry of Justice announced on 10 September 2025, as part of an £8 million technology drive, a pilot in which people under probation supervision use their own mobile devices to record short videos and \"use artificial intelligence to confirm their identity\", and answer questions about their behaviour and recent activities. Attempts to thwart the AI identity matching, or concerning answers, trigger \"an instant red alert\" to the Probation Service. The release says the pilot is \"being trialled in four Probation regions across England\" (South West, North West, East of England, and Kent, Surrey and Sussex) and will then be considered for further rollout with additional features such as GPS location checks. It gives no start date, supplier or legal basis. A Revolving Doors commentary of 11 February 2026 still described the check-ins in the future tense, and no source found shows that the pilot has begun, so it is recorded as proposed.",
