"notes": "The National Audit Office stated on 14 October 2026 that Justice Transcribe, an AI transcription tool that helps probation officers record notes of their meetings with people on probation, was tested and piloted in 2025 and \"rolled out to all officers between February and March 2026\". It reports that the Ministry of Justice and HMPPS estimate the tool will save around 450,000 hours of officers' time each year, and says the Ministry is exploring its use in other settings, including the prison and courts systems and with the police. The NAO names no supplier. The Ministry's Justice AI Unit page (accurate as of 24 September 2026) says the tool has been scaled to \"over 12,000 probation officers\" and that \"Over 1.5 million meetings have been summarised between 7 October 2025 and 14 September 2026\", and lists a pilot of its use for pre-sentence reports. HM Courts and Tribunals Service's planned study of the tool for court transcripts is recorded separately.",
