"notes": "FFXnow reported on 16 September 2026 that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on 15 September 2026 to pause installation of new Flock cameras by the police department until its Safety and Security Committee meets on 20 October. The pause does not affect the 84 licensed stationary Flock cameras the department operates. Board Chair Jeff McKay credited the programme with helping solve over 1,600 cases and sent Flock's chief executive questions about data ownership, access, immigration-related searches and how its AI searches work. Flock says Virginia measures include 21-day data retention and logged searches. The department also owns 712 Axon Fleet 3 plate readers mounted on most cruisers, which this record does not cover. FOX 5 DC reported on 20 October 2026 that the committee review was informational, with no vote on whether to continue using Flock; any decision would need the full board. The department said it began using Flock technology in 2022, still operates 84 Flock cameras, and has cut the number of people who can search plate data from 821 to 296. Police set out three options: keeping the current programme while evaluating vendors and data sharing, keeping it while testing alternatives, or building a county-only network without outside data sharing to be reassessed after a year. Police said they do not use Flock's Flock-OS tool.",
