"notes": "WECT reported on 13 October 2026 that Brunswick County Sheriff's Office took part in the State Bureau of Investigation's licence plate reader programme, with 12.2 million scans recorded. The office's current policy, dated 1 September, has Sheriff Brian Chism auditing the Flock system at least once every 30 days, a change from the version last revised on 25 February. County Commissioner Pat Sykes raised concern that the office may not have had a policy until September. The SBI's April report did not include a Brunswick policy because the office had not then installed cameras on state roads. A former deputy who resigned in August faces charges over alleged misuse of the Flock system. WECT reported on 2 November 2026 that the office presented the system to county commissioners, who are weighing whether to keep funding it; the cameras are at entrances and exits to the county. The sources do not give a camera count or start date.",
