"notes": "WECT reported on 13 October 2026 that Burlington Police Department took part in the State Bureau of Investigation's licence plate reader programme, with 57.6 million scans, the second highest of the pilot agencies. The article does not give the number of cameras or the vendor. The Alamance News reported on 12 March 2026 that the department leases 30 fixed Flock cameras at intersections and interstate entry points and one mobile camera, for about $130,000 a year, and has had them since May 2025 according to department officials; the article says the cameras 'make use of artificial intelligence' to read plates and compare them against stolen-vehicle, missing-person and fugitive records.",
