"notes": "WFTV reported on 2 September 2026 that the sheriff's office plans to continue using licence plate reader cameras where their use is permitted, and will stop using them where the Florida Department of Transportation no longer allows them. The office says the data has helped solve violent crimes, locate missing people and recover stolen property. The Orlando Sentinel reported on 1 September 2026 that Sheriff John Mina had recently said the office has 160 cameras at a cost of $158,000 a year, and quoted him saying that losing the technology would be 'a huge detriment to law enforcement'. The office says Mina has made clear that misuse will not be tolerated. The WFTV article does not name a vendor.",
