"notes": "This is the Coast reported on 19 July 2026, from an online public meeting held on 13 July 2026, that North Yorkshire Police has a pilot under way of an \"AI-enabled\" CCTV analysis tool, procured for 12 months and used by one team in major crime and serious organised crime investigations to search large volumes of footage for specific people or items. Assistant Chief Constable Ben Moseley gave the example of finding a man in a white shirt and black tie across hundreds of hours of York CCTV, and said the force thought the tool could do the equivalent of hundreds of hours of review in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. That speed is the force's own estimate. The report does not name the product or supplier. A freedom of information response of May 2025 (reference 1188/25-26) said the force did not then use BriefCam or hold any video analytics contract.",
