    "notes": "In a written answer signed by Minister Carlo Nordio to parliamentary question 4-06023 by Deputy Grimaldi (published in the Chamber's record of 30 September 2025), the Ministry of Justice states that a pilot project is being trialled (\"in fase di sperimentazione\") that introduces high-performance video surveillance integrated with artificial intelligence software able to detect anomalous behaviour and flag potentially dangerous situations. It says the pilot \"verrà portato a termine\" (will be completed) at the Casa circondariale di Vicenza by December 2025, and that extending such systems nationally depends on funds expected from 2026. The answer does not say which office runs the pilot or name a supplier. Separately, it says funding procedures were completed on 9 October 2025 for upgrades to video surveillance, anti-intrusion and anti-climbing systems at 19 prisons, at about €2,420,177; that passage does not mention AI. The answer itself carries no date; the latest date it cites is a note of 15 October 2025 from the Rome public prosecutor. The Minister's 2026 directive setting the DAP's objectives includes targets for video surveillance and security systems in prisons but does not mention artificial intelligence, and a February 2025 report (LaPresse) on prison cameras that the DAP will be able to view centrally does not mention AI either.",
