"notes": "SoundThinking announced a three-year renewal covering 6 square miles during the second quarter of 2026. The renewal is a company statement.\n\nUpdate, November 2026. WCBU Peoria Public Radio reported on 28 May 2026 that the City Council unanimously approved a three-year renewal on the Tuesday of that week (26 May 2026 by inference) at an annual cost of $316,000, which WCBU describes as a 5 per cent increase in the first year that then stays flat. The system covers two zones of three square miles each, one on the southwest side in service since 2013 and one in Central Peoria added two years later. Police Chief Brad Dixon told the council it had been \"very helpful\"; the department's figures for a two-year period (2024-25) are nearly 2,000 alerts and 143 shootings detected, with 166 victims, 25 of them fatal.",
