"notes": "SoundThinking announced a five-year renewal covering 42 square miles during the second quarter of 2026. The renewal is a company statement.\n\nUpdate, November 2026. The Albuquerque Police Department's own news release of 8 May 2024 states that ShotSpotter was implemented in the department in 2020, was placed first in parts of the city with high gunfire rates, and was being expanded to the Uptown area; it reports a fall of about 26 per cent in shots-fired incidents in covered areas, from 5,244 in 2023 to 3,865 between 1 January and 2 May 2024, while crediting other tools as well. The 2026 renewal described above is still known only from the vendor's press release; no council or city record of it was found.",
