"notes": "Thurston County, Washington, announced the official launch of the Public Safety Assessment, described as a nationally validated pretrial risk tool that researchers at RTI International validated on the county's population. Pretrial Services staff complete it for adults booked into the county jail who are coming before the court for a release decision, and judicial officers, prosecutors and defence counsel use the result as one input. The county states that the tool does not make decisions. It was implemented under the national Advancing Pretrial Policy and Research initiative. The county's page is undated; The Chronicle of Centralia reported the launch announcement on 2 October 2023, so the start is given as 2023. No later source on its use was found.",
