"notes": "The department acknowledged in April 2025 that it had used facial recognition for two to three years without a written policy, through other agencies' licences. Chief Jeffrey Norman halted its use in February 2026 under a moratorium: members may not use it and the department will not consider acquiring it until a policy is developed with the Fire and Police Commission. A proposed agreement with Biometrica was not finalised. The police union has challenged the pause.",
