FBI Warns of Deepfake Videos Impersonating IC3 Leadership
Reported by Infosecurity Magazine
The FBI has warned that fraudsters are using artificial intelligence deepfake videos of senior officials to target previous scam victims. The videos show an FBI leader urging social media users to file reports on a spoofed complaint site. These lookalike portals mimic the official Internet Crime Complaint Center website to collect personal data and financial details. Security vendor Swimlane warned that the scheme has evolved from basic text messages to resemble an official government process from start to finish. The public service announcement follows an earlier warning about the impersonation campaign issued in April 2025.
