Harvard dropout launches AI startup to help police officers, raises $6 million

A Boston-based artificial intelligence start-up called Blue Voice has raised $6m to help police officers quickly check laws and department policies in the field. Former Harvard Law School student David Lawrence launched the company alongside former Google engineer Amit Patankar and retired Boston police deputy chief Michael Gropman. The domain-specific tool gives officers real-time access to local regulations, school maps during active-shooter incidents, and assistance with cold cases. The platform is already used daily by officers across 225 county agencies in 25 US states. The system identifies relevant rules but leaves all final decisions to human officers.
