Texas Police Used AI to Write Report About Using Flock to Search for Woman Who Had Abortion

A Texas sheriff's office used an artificial intelligence tool called Draft One to help write an incident report about searching for a woman who had a self-administered abortion. Johnson County Sheriff’s Office used the software, made by Axon, which turns body camera audio into draft police reports. The department had previously used the Flock surveillance network of more than 80,000 automated licence plate reader cameras across the United States to track the woman. The AI-generated report summarised discussions with prosecutors over whether the woman could be charged with a crime. Flock's chief executive said the search was carried out only for the woman's safety, but police documents say the inquiry began at the request of her abusive partner.
