AI-assisted redaction tools detect faces, number plates, names and other personal information in video, images, audio or documents and mark them for removal before material is disclosed to courts, the public or other agencies.

In English policing, Devon and Cornwall Police and Dorset Police are piloting a tool called Secure Redact, and Avon and Somerset Police used Pimloc SecureRedact until 31 March 2026, according to force Freedom of Information responses. A Microsoft customer case study of September 2025 (a company claim) describes a document redaction application built on Azure AI for Cleveland Police.

The tracker records such tools where a force or other public body is shown to be using them. The main questions are accuracy of detection, human checking of the output, and what happens to the material processed.
