Notes
Lynchburg City Council adopted a resolution by Councilman Chris Faraldi on Thursday 3 September 2026 to end the city's Flock Safety contract and licence agreement, keep the cameras offline in the meantime and remove all Flock technology when the agreement expires in April 2027. WSET reported the first vote as 6-1 with the vice mayor absent and a later report as 6-0-1; the sources differ on the tally. At a meeting on Tuesday 8 September the council voted down alternative resolutions by Councilman Martin Misjuns and Councilwoman Jacqueline Timmer that would have forced earlier removal; WSET's report cites a Flock email to the police department putting the cost of removal before 6 April 2027 at $500 a device, about $34,500 in all. The city has 15 fixed Falcon plate-reading cameras and Flock gunshot detection devices (55 in the first report, 54 in the second), which are a separate technology not recorded here. The police department had paused use a few weeks before the first vote, and Police Chief Ken Edwards said the department "will comply fully".
