Notes

A place-based predictive policing system that identifies clusters of recorded burglaries and flags areas where further offences are considered likely, used to direct patrols. Established by three independent sources read in this run and by no cantonal police publication, which is why the confidence rests on the multiple-sources limb rather than on official evidence. SRF, the Swiss public broadcaster, reported on 27 April 2020 that the force had used the software for five years and quoted its media spokesman Roland Pfister saying 'Die Software fasst keine Einbrecher' - the software does not catch burglars - and describing its value as putting officers in the right place, primarily for prevention. AlgorithmWatch CH's atlas of algorithms in Swiss public administration records Precobs in use in Switzerland since 2013 across Zurich, Aargau and Basel-Landschaft, names LogObject AG as vendor, and records Basel-Landschaft discontinuing it in 2020 on the ground that it no longer met the increased requirements of crime analysis. Netzwoche, 1 July 2026, reports the Aargau force still using Precobs alongside a second tool called Picar, and states that these process case data rather than personal data. The 'since' field is left empty because those sources do not agree on a start date for Aargau specifically: SRF's 2020 account implies roughly 2015, while the AlgorithmWatch entry dates Precobs in Switzerland as a whole to 2013. Legal basis and oversight left empty: no source read establishes either for this force. techSlug omitted deliberately - see the accompanying report.
