Notes
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections' own web page describes COMPAS as an "actuarial risk assessment system" that the department uses for "criminogenic risk and needs assessments and unified case planning". The page says results inform case plans from arrest through discharge and ties the tool to evidence-based supervision, directing services at moderate- and higher-risk people. The page does not state when the department began using COMPAS, any oversight arrangement or a legal basis, and the vendor is not named on it, so those fields are left empty. Court use of COMPAS in Wisconsin sentencing is a separate matter (State v Loomis) and is not covered by this record.
