Norfolk Constabulary deployed Live Facial Recognition (LFR) cameras in Norwich city centre over two days earlier this year to identify wanted suspects and individuals who had failed to attend court. During eight and a half hours of operation in March, the technology scanned 101,511 passers-by. The surveillance generated two positive alerts that led to police interventions, but resulted in only one offender being caught. The stopped man was identified as being wanted for failing to appear in court and was also found in possession of cannabis. He was subsequently rebailed for his court warrant and issued with a community resolution for the drug offence.
