Police officers in Lafayette, Indiana, spent seven months testing an artificial intelligence tool called Form One, developed by Axon to automatically generate administrative police reports from body camera audio. According to public records obtained by Forbes, officers found that the software repeatedly introduced errors into records, misidentifying information such as names and vehicle licence plates. Rather than saving time for officers who typically spend up to 15 hours a week on paperwork, the tool increased their workload due to the manual corrections required. In one instance, an officer noted that filling out a basic form took three minutes using Form One compared to just 30 seconds manually, even as Axon's AI tools have been used to assist with over 600,000 police reports.
