Londoners have expressed widespread concern over the rollout of live facial recognition technology across the capital's transport network, according to recent polling by Opinium. The survey found 72% of respondents in Greater London want a say on its use, with two-thirds fearing errors could lead to unfair treatment. Half of those polled worried about racial bias, while 62% raised concerns about image storage. The findings come as British Transport Police admitted a six-month railway station trial caught no serious offenders, though the force said it set a deliberately high threshold for targets. The technology was first deployed at Victoria Underground station in February and will rotate between different Tube stations until November.
