North Korean Hiring Fraud Runs on AI and US Laptop Farms

A North Korean fraud cell used artificial intelligence to help fake job applicants infiltrate Western firms, risk intelligence company Nisos has revealed. The operation unravelled after an operative applied for a remote role at Nisos in June 2025 using a stolen identity from Florida. Interviewers noticed the candidate reading screen answers generated in real time by an AI tool. The candidate even gave details about surviving a fictional hurricane invented by Nisos to test the applicant. Nisos later shipped a rigged laptop to the provided address, using its camera to uncover a US closet stacked with computers operating as a laptop farm.
