An investigation into an alleged multi-crore donation theft at the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya has revealed that local police had previously recommended installing AI-enabled surveillance cameras and vehicle scanning systems. Ayodhya Police had also urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to increase the deployment of security personnel at sensitive locations within the premises. However, trust office-bearers, including former general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, allegedly ignored the advice before the theft surfaced. Investigators believe this lapse weakened security at the site, which is guarded by around 2,500 personnel from multiple forces alongside an Anti-Terrorism Squad team. A Special Investigation Team has now recommended tighter monitoring and technology-driven security upgrades at the temple.
