Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has recommended that the National Police Service incorporate artificial intelligence technology into future recruitments to enhance efficiency. Speaking in Nairobi at an AI Hackathon 2025 programme organised by the National Intelligence and Research University, Murkomen urged the recruitment of technology-competent professionals to help combat modern challenges. He noted that placing young AI experts across government offices would also help protect national digital assets from attacks on public platforms. Additionally, Murkomen revealed that the State is procuring a digital occurrence book that will allow citizens to report crimes remotely from home or at the scene. This digital system is expected to help authorities easily map out areas where crime is prevalent.
