Two Greer police officers, Corporal Kareem Lynch and Officer Sebastian Echeverry, were fired in June after improperly using the city's Flock Automatic Licence Plate Recognition technology. The system automatically tracks vehicles as they pass, with departmental policy requiring its use to be strictly limited to public safety-related missions. Following allegations that the officers had violated this policy, city officials used an artificial intelligence audit assistance tool to review platform usage. According to a statement from City Administrator Andrew Merriman, the AI audit corroborated the allegations against both officers.
