Authorities in Uttar Pradesh handed 15 impersonators over to local police on the first day of the UPTET-2026 examination after artificial intelligence surveillance identified them sitting in place of registered candidates. Continuous monitoring was conducted using AI-enabled cameras linked to an integrated control command room at the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, overseen by Commission Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar. Verification using AI technology detected seven impersonators during the first shift and eight during the second shift. The examination was conducted across 955 centres in 60 districts, with 684,614 of the 807,636 registered candidates—representing 84.76 per cent—attending the test.
