Notes
netzpolitik.org (20 October 2026) reports that about 30 cameras at Kottbusser Tor and the analysis software have run intermittently in test mode since 6 October 2026, after a calibration phase, and that the police did not say when 24-hour trial operation ('Probeechtbetrieb') begins. It says Staige GmbH, in which Adesso SE holds shares, develops the software, Adesso is general contractor and Axis supplies the cameras; the detection categories are not public. The system converts people into pose and movement data and raises an alert when it judges a situation likely to be of police relevance, including people lying on the ground. netzpolitik.org (14 July 2026) reports that the police told the House of Representatives' interior committee on 1 June 2026 that the contract had been awarded to Adesso, with four million euros available (TED notice 104053-2026). Tagesspiegel (3 August 2026) quotes Interior Senator Iris Spranger saying that faces will not be recognisable and that a human decides what to do; it describes Kottbusser Tor as a pilot, with Warschauer Straße to follow and site protection planned at the Rotes Rathaus and the interior administration, and wider use depending on the pilot's success. A dpa report updated on 28 October 2026 says live operation was to begin in early November 2026 with a four-week trial phase, using 30 cameras at 15 locations, and quotes the police project lead as saying the system cannot recognise faces. The prospective coalition partners have agreed on an evaluation, according to netzpolitik.org.
