Notes

Xinhua, in a report of 4 May 2026 carried by the Hunan provincial government website on 5 May and by CGTN, says two robot traffic police have been on duty in Ordos since 1 May 2026, the start of the Labour Day holiday, using Internet of Things and AI technology for traffic direction, traffic safety education and intelligent patrols. It quotes Wu Qingyun, described as a traffic police officer in Ordos, as saying the robots have "enhanced traffic efficiency and freed up manpower at intersections". The reports do not describe the deployment as a trial, and give no vendor, legal basis or oversight arrangement; they concern the holiday period and give no later information on whether the robots remain in use. The operational status follows the description of the robots as on duty. The same report describes similar robots in Hangzhou, which has its own record, and a robot directing traffic in Kashgar without naming the responsible body.
