Notes
The New York City Office of Technology and Innovation's algorithmic tools report for calendar year 2025 (version effective March 2026) lists a Risk of Recidivism Tool used by the Department of Correction's Division of Programs and Community Partnerships since July 2025. The report says it is 'designed to identify individuals at high risk of recidivism so they can receive additional services': its purpose is to identify newly admitted people at high risk of recidivism within 12 months of discharge so that they can be offered targeted services supporting reintegration. The report classes it as a classification tool used for resource allocation, run approximately weekly, with informative autonomy. It lists the inputs as prior admissions, self-reported homelessness, self-reported drug or alcohol misuse, whether the top charge is a misdemeanour and age at first admission to the department's custody, says it was trained on information about people discharged to the community in 2020 and 2021, and says it outputs a 'high' or 'low' risk classification, after which programme staff give additional support to those at high risk. No vendor is listed.
