A 25-year-old Parkland man, Ray Lequerique, has been arrested by the Broward Sheriff’s Office after an artificial intelligence tool flagged the creation and possession of sexually explicit images of minors. The investigation began in May when Grok, an AI chatbot built into the social media platform X, sent an alert to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which forwarded the details to local task force detectives. Lequerique faces 11 felony counts after officers executed search warrants on his X account and family home, revealing altered photographs of young girls manipulated using the software. His defence attorney stated that Lequerique has severe physical and mental disabilities, including cerebellar vermis hypoplasia, which severely impair his ability to communicate and understand his actions. Following his arrest by a SWAT team on 10 July, Lequerique was released from jail on a $110,000 bond.
