Some police forces and justice agencies offer an AI chat assistant on their website, in an app or at a self-service kiosk. These assistants answer routine questions about the agency's services, point people to the right process, and in some cases collect the details of a non-emergency matter or help a person lodge a report.

The tracker records them separately from AI emergency and non-emergency call triage, which covers AI applied to calls into control rooms, and from generative AI assistants used by police staff, which are not open to the public. The questions that matter for a public-facing assistant are how accurate its answers are, what it records about the people who use it, and whether it changes how easily they can reach a person.

In June 2026 the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services announced an AI assistant on its website, launched with the state Department of Administration and Tyler Technologies as an extension of 'Bradley', the AI assistant on SC.GOV. The department says it answers questions from offenders, victims, courts and the public about its programmes and processes, including supervision, pardon applications and victim services.
