Notes
The Icelandic police state, in a news item dated 7 November 2025, that the EES rollout at Keflavík Airport began on 12 October and was in its first implementation phase, with full implementation planned for 10 April 2026. The item says the National Commissioner of Police leads the project and credits the staff of the Suðurnes police commissioner, in particular border officers, for the rollout at the airport. It does not mention biometrics or a supplier. An earlier police news item of 15 December 2020 says the National Commissioner and the airport operator Isavia made an agreement with the French company IDEMIA for automated border equipment at Keflavík Airport, as new EU rules require the collection of facial images and fingerprints from third-country nationals at the border, so that Iceland as a Schengen state can meet the EES requirements; it mentions renewal of equipment at border stations across the country and says much of the cost is funded by the EU's Internal Security Fund. Biometric Update (14 December 2020) reported IDEMIA's TravelKiosk and TravelLane products; the police pages do not name the products. The EES itself is operated at EU level by eu-LISA, which has its own record.
