Notes
Nottinghamshire Police announced on 29 July 2026 that it would use live facial recognition from a marked van with a 360-degree dual-camera system, scanning people in public places against a watchlist of people suspected of serious crimes, wanted on warrants, under banning orders, or missing or vulnerable. The force says faces that do not match are erased within seconds. Detective Superintendent Will Henley told LBC that the force was "looking to do our first deployment in the second half of August" 2026, and ID Tech reported on the same date that the force was preparing to deploy and had not published results. The force page does not name a supplier or give a start date. On 21 August 2026 the Electronic Frontier Foundation reported that eight civil society organisations, including itself, Big Brother Watch and Liberty, had written to the force on 19 August urging it to halt the roll-out, including over possible use against low-level anti-social behaviour by young people under Operation View. No source read confirms that a deployment has taken place; the Home Office factsheet of December 2025 does not list Nottinghamshire among forces that had used live facial recognition.
