Avon and Somerset Police

In a Freedom of Information response on its use of AI technologies (request dated 5 September 2025, reference 1159/25; the response is undated but refers to events on 31 March 2026), Avon and Somerset Police states that 'Copilot Chat is available throughout Avon and Somerset Police', and that a licensed version of Microsoft 365 Copilot is being trialled with no long-term licences committed. The response says its Copilot usage policy was in draft at the time of the request and has since been finalised; the force publishes an acceptable use of Microsoft Copilot policy (the page is undated; the PDF is labelled v1). The response also says no AI system is currently used to make operational decisions without human involvement. It also lists NICE Investigate, the force's digital evidence management system, as an approved tool, and says Pimloc SecureRedact, which it describes as 'billed by the vendor as being AI-powered', ceased being used on 31 March 2026. The response does not say what Copilot Chat is used for, or from when.
