Notes
The City of Raleigh's page on how the police department uses Flock cameras, updated 10 September 2026, says every search must be run by a trained employee, tied to a law enforcement purpose and logged with a case, warrant, dispatch or unique number, under Departmental Operating Instructions 1110-07, 'Automated License Plate Recognition and Internet Protocol Camera System'. The page says data is deleted automatically after 30 days unless preserved for a specific criminal investigation, and notes that state law allows up to 90 days. Supervisors review user activity, the page describes monthly audits and regular audits reported to the Police Chief, and a public transparency portal shows the number of cameras in use. The page does not give a camera count or start date. Axios reported in May 2026 that Raleigh also installed three cameras on state roads under the State Bureau of Investigation programme.
