Notes
The Justice Department's 2025 AI use case inventory (entry DOJ-0035, as consolidated by the Office of Management and Budget) lists 'Commercial LPR (via HIDTA partners)' as deployed. The entry says the capability is not provided or managed by ATF: ATF staff have access to Flock licence plate reader systems run by High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) partner agencies. It gives an operational date of January 2024 and classes the use as high-impact.
