Used for more than a decade. In August 2026 the department said it would let the contract expire at the end of 2026 while it evaluates whether another vendor offers greater benefit. The department reports more than 25,000 alerts, 655 arrests and 721 firearms recovered from 2020 to 2026.
Update, November 2026. Axios Denver reported on 21 August 2026 that the department's $4.7 million contract ends on 31 December 2026, that the city has used the technology since 2015, that the system stays operational through 2026 with coverage and use shrinking as it is removed from the areas with the fewest alerts, and that the city will open bidding for new vendors and take public feedback. The department's figures are 25,217 alerts, 655 arrests and 721 firearm recoveries from 2020 to June 2026. The record remains operational until the contract ends; a later source is needed to move it to discontinued.
