Notes

Loudoun Now reported on 16 March 2026 that, besides its four Flock cameras (recorded separately), the sheriff's office operates 58 further plate readers: 25 mobile and 18 trailer-mounted cameras made by Motorola, called Vigilant, and 15 mobile Leonardo ELSAG cameras, according to spokesperson Chad Quinn. Quinn said the office stores plate data for 21 days and compares reads against law enforcement databases as permitted by law. The article notes that the Motorola cameras appear to have been the subject of a 2024 national cybersecurity advisory; it includes no response from the office on that point. The start dates of these systems are not given.
