Notes

The DHS 2025 AI Use Case Inventory (entry DHS-2515, as consolidated by the Office of Management and Budget) lists "AI-Enhanced ICE Tip Processing" as deployed, with an operational date of 2 May 2025, bought from Palantir and authorised to operate on the Case Management & Analytics system. The entry says it addresses "the time-consuming manual effort required to review and categorize incoming tips": a large language model adds to each tip submitted through the web form a short summary in English (a "BLUF", bottom line up front) and a recommended case category, chosen only from a predefined list of Homeland Security Investigations case categories, and analysts can have non-English tips translated into English. It says the models are commercially available, were not further trained on agency data and interact with tip submissions in operation, and DHS records the use as not high-impact. WIRED (28 January 2026, updated 29 January) reported the same inventory entry and a DHS statement that the software is "being actively authorized" to support ICE operations. This record is separate from the Palantir case management, ImmigrationOS and ELITE systems recorded elsewhere on the tracker.
