Notes
Liberty Investigates and The Times reported on 5 May 2026 that West Yorkshire Police documents "indicate the force is working with the Home Office to equip officers with OIFR", operator-initiated facial recognition on handheld devices, "anticipated for deployment in 2026". The force said no date had been set. The article says that in West Yorkshire and Thames Valley, which have explored adopting it, the capability would be made available through Motorola's Pronto policing app, which the company says is "used by more than half of UK police forces". No source read shows the capability in use by the force.
