PAI-AC7445CAAn AI agent began answering the department's non-emergency line in September 2026 after testing that began in April 2026.
Update, November 2026. Colorado Politics reported on 23 September 2026 that the supplier is "Prepared AI by Axon", at $170,000 a year, and that the assistant, named S.A.R.A.H. (Service Assessment and Response Assistance Helper), began answering all non-emergency calls to the communications centre on the Tuesday before publication (22 September 2026 by inference). The article says there were four beta tests in which roughly half of non-emergency calls were completed without a human dispatcher, that callers can ask for a human, and Deputy Chief John Koch is quoted as saying a human will be involved in all processes and reviews each AI-handled call.
