The Justice Department's 2025 AI use case inventory (entry DOJ-0028, as consolidated by the Office of Management and Budget) lists 'ShotSpotter (via access to external state/local systems)' as deployed. The entry says ATF accesses ShotSpotter through external state and local systems, which rapidly locate gunshots and activity of investigative interest and alert law enforcement. It names SoundThinking as vendor, gives an operational date of January 2024 and classes the use as high-impact.
