Notes
The DHS 2025 AI Use Case Inventory (entry DHS-2570, as consolidated by the Office of Management and Budget) lists 'Traffic Jam' as deployed. The entry says CBP uses Traffic Jam's data source on potential runaways, missing children and sex trafficking victims and its analytics, and that Traffic Jam 'leverages AI for facial recognition purposes' and to draw together similar data points in support of human trafficking and exploitation investigations; possible matches go back to officers and agents for review. DHS lists the privacy and civil liberties risks of 'commercial facial recognition vendors' among its potential impacts. It says submitted images are cached for two hours and nothing is kept permanently, and gives an operational date of 29 September 2025. DHS classes the use as high-impact.
