Notes

The Justice Department's 2025 AI use case inventory (entries DOJ-0253, DOJ-0127 and DOJ-0305, as consolidated by the Office of Management and Budget) lists three FBI language-processing uses: DOJ-0253, 'Symphony AD-Hoc Batch Processing', an in-house generative AI tool that translates, transcribes and summarises, deployed from October 2025; DOJ-0127, human language extraction and translation technology, deployed from May 2025, vendor given as 'AI Service Provider'; and DOJ-0305, 'Data Triage and Processing', a vendor-supplied pilot from January 2025 that also detects objects in audio and video. DOJ classes all three as not high-impact. The inventory also lists two further deployed, vendor-purchased FBI tools of the same kind, each described in a few words and classed as not high-impact: DOJ-0123, 'OCR and Translation', from September 2025, and DOJ-0255, a 'Summarization Tool', from January 2025. The record shows the deployed status; DOJ-0305 is a pilot.
